Tuition & Financing
Financing
Cosmetology students may be qualified to receive grants and financial aid from a variety of sources, including the U.S. Department of Education. To expedite your enrollment, you can submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid online or by mail. Click here for instructions. Our Financial Aid officers can help you explore your financing options, and to fill out applications and paperwork.
Examination
You can register for the cosmetology exam online (Tennessee or Mississippi) and prepare for the licensing exam with information from State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology’s website. Because it takes a few weeks to receive your test date, you should register early prior to completing your required hours of cosmetology and hair school training. The instructors and school staff at Gould’s Academy are happy to assist in completing your application.
Hours & Tuition
Cosmetology students, in order to graduate, must successfully complete 1500 hours of practical and theory courses. A new cosmetology student will begin their education at Level 1 in a supervised classroom, accumulating 300 hours of theory and practicals. Level 2 classes will continue with supervised training for the next 360 hours. Upon successfully completing 660 hours, students demonstrating knowledge in practicals and theory are considered to be making satisfactory progress and may be promoted to Level 3, the Student Salon (clinic floor) upon test out.
