Nail Tech
Manicure School
Have you always dreamed of becoming a licensed nail technician? At Gould’s Academy, our nail tech schools in Memphis and Bartlett Tennessee offer exceptional programs designed to help you refine your skills and take your career in the nail tech industry to the next level. Our graduates are highly trained and well-known in the cosmetology industry for their professionalism, exceptional skills, and knowledge of proper manicuring and pedicuring procedures.
Advanced Nail Tech Education
As you work towards earning your nail tech license, you will learn from the OPI Nail System, the Nuts and Bolts business course, and the Milady Nail Technology textbook. Our highly skilled, professional educators will use a combination of PowerPoint presentations, DVDs, lectures, demonstrations, charts, and hands-on training to provide a well-rounded experience. Guest artists will also visit regularly as part of our curriculum.
We believe incorporating a variety of instruction materials into our curriculum fosters a positive attitude, effective communication, and the motivation needed.
Course Framework
When you enroll in our manicurist program, you will begin your education at a Level 1 while learning in a supervised classroom. At this point, you will participate in 300 hours of practical education and theory before you can move forward with the next level of the program. After you have demonstrated proficient progress and knowledge in the field, especially where theory and practical learning are concerned, you will have the opportunity to progress to Level 2 Student Salon, which is our clinic floor.
As you practice your skills on the clinic floor, you will be under the constant and direct supervision of a licensed educator. While as a Level 2 student, you must put your knowledge of manicure training to work and continue to attend advanced technical classes and a daily theory class throughout the duration of the program.
As you get ready to take the Tennessee State Board Licensed Examination, or the Mississippi State Board Licensing Examination, you must complete at least 400 hours of training. Once you have logged these hours, you will be eligible to participate in a Tennessee State Board Preparatory Class. These classes are held twice a month and must be attended until 600 hours are completed. Please know that we do not accept transfer hours towards completing this particular course.
